Transform invites you to a reconsider what and how art is made. Through artistic processes, interventions, and a series of metamorphoses, all of the exhibited artists take materials and turn them into new realities. With their work, they communicate different ideas through varied visions, using the language of form as a means of transformation.

American playwright and actor Harvey Fierstein has said that “art has the power to transform, to illuminate, to educate, inspire and motivate.” Here, the verb transform is defined as, “a thorough or dramatic change in the form, appearance, or character” with synonyms such as change, alter, convert, metamorphose, transfigure, transmute, and mutate.

This definition and message truly lies at the heart of the exhibition, as artists convert, transfigure, and mutate artistic materials and ideas into new and illuminating realities. Driven by a desire to communicate through changing processes, the message of change itself becomes the artist's medium as well.

Each work of transformative art bears silent witness to both the process and end-product of the metamorphosis achieved — on an individual level, and on a group level as felt through the exhibition.

Transform runs from December 1st, 2017 through March 5th, 2018 with an opening reception on Friday, December 1st, 2017 from 6pm to 9pm.

Transform is on view during Miami Art Week, Dec 7 through Dec 10th
Open to the public: 11am - 3pm and any time by appointment.
